NOC does not currently offer biodegradable packaging options. However, clients are welcome to supply their own packaging for filling.

If you have not yet sourced packaging, you may explore suppliers on Alibaba by searching for biodegradable cosmetic packaging. NOC can also assist in sourcing and coordinating packaging if needed.

Please note that biodegradable packaging from overseas suppliers—particularly China—typically requires a minimum order of 5,000 units. While you are not required to fill all 5,000 units at once, the packaging must be purchased upfront. NOC can then fill a minimum of 1000 units.

Below are the advantages and disadvantage for bio degradable packaging.

✅ Advantages of Biodegradable Packaging

1. Eco-Friendly & Sustainable

  • Breaks down naturally, reducing landfill waste and pollution
  • Helps lower environmental footprint compared to traditional plastics

2. Strong Marketing Appeal

  • Aligns with “clean beauty” and eco-conscious trends
  • Attracts environmentally aware consumers (especially Gen Z & Millennials)
  • Can justify premium pricing if positioned properly

3. Brand Differentiation

  • Sets your brand apart in a crowded cosmetics market
  • Supports storytelling around sustainability and responsibility

4. Regulatory Alignment (Future-Proofing)

  • Governments (especially in Canada, EU) are pushing toward reduced plastic use
  • Helps you stay ahead of potential regulations and bans

5. Positive Brand Image

  • Builds trust and loyalty
  • Enhances perception of transparency and ethics

❌ Disadvantages of Biodegradable Packaging

1. Higher Cost

  • Typically more expensive than standard plastic packaging
  • Costs can increase significantly at lower MOQs

2. Durability & Shelf Life Issues

  • May degrade faster when exposed to moisture, heat, or oils
  • Not always ideal for long shelf-life products or certain formulations (e.g., oils, serums)

3. Limited Barrier Protection

  • Can be less effective at protecting against air, light, and contamination
  • Might impact product stability and efficacy

4. Consumer Misunderstanding

  • “Biodegradable” doesn’t always mean it breaks down in home conditions
  • Some require industrial composting—customers may not dispose properly

5. Supply Chain Limitations

  • Fewer suppliers compared to plastic packaging
  • Longer lead times and less customization options

6. Performance Trade-Offs

  • May not feel as “luxury” (depending on material)
  • Can have texture, weight, or aesthetic limitations

? When It Makes the Most Sense

Biodegradable packaging works best for:

  • Short shelf-life or fast-moving products
  • Brands targeting eco-conscious consumers
  • Products like balms, dry goods, or powders
  • Marketing-driven launches or “green” product lines

⚖️ Balanced Strategy (What Many Brands Do)

Instead of going fully biodegradable, many successful brands:

  • Use hybrid packaging (e.g., recyclable + biodegradable components)
  • Focus on refillable systems
  • Use PCR (post-consumer recycled plastic) for better durability + sustainability
